14.7.2018 - Emil Lindholm victorious in Autoglym rally

GRX-team driver Emi Lindholm and his co-driver Mikael Korhonen made a superb performance in international Autoglym Rally and win the event with 29,7 seconds gap to another Flying Finn Jarkko Nikara.

Lindholm, age of 22, made seven top special stage times and was faster than Toyota Gazoo Racing and Skoda manufacturer driver Ole Christian Veiby.

Because of victory, Emil Lindholm joined his father Sebastian Lindholm as now both drivers have won the event. Sebastian Lindholm won the same event three times in a row at seasons 2001 to 2003.

- I'm very happy to write Finnish Rally history as me and father have now won this highly valuable international Finnish rally, Lindholm smiled.

- It was a hard rally because we really needed to push hard to collect this victory. We also encountered few big moments but same happened to my rivals. The stages were very slippery and the grip varied a lot. But still this was my first-ever overall victory and it makes me really happy and satisfied, Lindholm joyed at the finish.

Youngster tells that his driving started to go on from the first special stage on.

- When the driving comes like itself the result is normally very good. Inside the cabin we felt the speed as the driving was relaxed and I didn't have to think of my doings. Therefore this was the best-ever result of my rally career and also best performance which is very good as we now go forward towards WRC Rally Finland, Lindholm shares his thoughts.

- Even the stages in Autoglym rally were a bit different than we will experience in WRC Rally Finland, we still could test some things as my goals in WRC Rally Finland are pretty calm. In my career I've driven only three WRC-events and therefore I will not take unnecessary risks to reach top positions. In Gravel Grand Prix we'll be driving our own speed and try to avoid all drama and then the result might also be good, Lindholm calculates.

WRC Rally Finland is to be driven in final weekend of July. Lindholm and Korhonen competes in WRC2-group with Skoda Fabia R5 rally car. They enter the stages with competition number of 46.
