27.1.2018 - Emil Lindholm had a perfect season opener in Arctic Lapland Rally - Silver podium position from highly appreciated event

Flying Finn Emil Lindholm, age of 21, had superb performance in his first-ever 4WD rally. Youngster with his co-driver Mikael Korhonen collect second position from Arctic Lapland Rally, which was season opener of Finnish Rally Championship series. In two intense rally days Lindholm and Korhonen concentrated driving on their own performance with GRX-team Skoda Fabia R5, which eventually was rewarded with second highest Championship points.

Lindholm was very happy because his result was more than he had set for the event.

- In this rally my tactics were set to increase my from stage to another. Basically I managed to do just that because when I had more trust for the car the special stage times kept going better and better. Especially in near flat-out sections I could drive with pedal on the medal, Lindholm smiled at the end of the rally.

In 11 special stages rally GRX-team drivers collected two fastest special stage times. His first-ever fastest special stage time in FRC1 group was set in new Untamovaara special stage and another in traditional Mäntyvaara Super Special stage.

- Especially fastest time in complitely new Untamovaara stage was a very nice surprise because I didn't drive any faster than in other stages. Yet again both top times were set when concentrating on my own performance.

- At the end of the final stage my feelings were absolutely thrilling. My first thoughts was "when can I have more of this?", Lindholm told and continued, - When reviewing the result I only can improve it just by one position. I know I have lots to improve on my driving and therefore I'm very keen to compete again in next three weeks when next round of Finnish Rally Championship series is to be driven at the region of Mikkeli. I would be very happy if I could step up my performance on next event even my goals are then again set only for to finish the event.

Final results FRC Arctic Lapland rally 2018, Rovaniemi:
1. Eerik Pietarinen - Juhana Raitanen Skoda Fabia R5 2:08:49,3
2. Emil Lindholm - Mikael Korhonen Skoda Fabia R5 + 2:25,4

16.12.2017 - Emil Lindholm enters Finnish Rally Championship series 2018 with Skoda Fabia R5 rally car

In season 2017 young Flying Finn Emil Lindholm, age of 21, collect silver medal in Finnish Rally Championship series FRC3 group with FWD Peugeot 208 R2 rally car. Now in season 2018 he and co-driver Mikael Korhonen, age of 32, steps forward and enters the series with Skoda Fabia R5 which is owned by Marcus Grönholm GRX team.

Grönholm tells that Lindholm is part of GRX team project called GRX Try Out 2018. Skoda Fabia R5 car is run by professional motorsport company Printsport Racing with team manager Eero Räikkönen, main engineer Markus Paananen and service people Markus Jalas and Sami Raatikainen.

- Emil Lindholm rents the car from us. He has had a superb career so far and therefore we would like to seek out his true skills for the future. Therefore we call the project Try Out, Grönholm tells.

Besides Finnish Rally Championship series Lindholm and Korhonen measures their speed against top WRC2-group drivers in WRC Rally Finland which is to be driven at July.

- This is absolutely a superb opportunity for us. I have to say big thanks for Marcus Grömholm and all my sponsors and partners. I had a hectic autumn because I had so many choises for my future. However this is absolutely the best one because it also includes WRC Rally Finland against top drivers. Let's hope that we can add more single events as the season progress, Lindholm tells.

Youngster knows that it takes time to enter from FWD car to 4WD. He also has job ahead to develope his pace note skills. This work has already begun.

- Since first days of October me and co-driver Mikael Korhonen started the work to develope my skills on pace notes because fast car it gives me complitely new challenge. There are now more speed and therefore pace notes has to be exact as I cannot drive flat out and so boldly to every corner I did with R2-group car, Lindholm shares his thoughts.

Emil Lindholm, who is a son of eight times Finnish Rally Champion Sebastian Lindholm, introduced himself to Skoda Fabia in tests which were driven near WRC Rally Finland stages at central Finland.

- I did approximately 50 competitive special stage kilometres and noticed now much of potential this car has. I think I managed quite well to get seated with the car so that I'm in good pace when the season starts at the end of January in traditional season opener which is to be driven in surroundings of Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi. My personal goals are set for top speed in third and final winter round of the season which is to be driven in surroundings of Joensuu at begining of March.
